The Promenade des Capitaines is half a kilometer long and runs along the Matane Salmon River in the heart of downtown Matane. A unique experience in a unique place with a passionate family, Tony welcome you to his estate: the Carpinteri Vineyard. In 2004, the Carpinteri family acquired an old strawberry field with a favorable microclimate. The site was suitable for growing vines, so they decided to convert it into a vineyard with hybrid grape varieties. The Carpinteri vineyard is located 40 km from the Gaspé Peninsula entrance and about 2 km south of Route 132, making it the northernmost vineyard in Canada. In the Carpinteri family, respect for the environment is very present in the way the vineyard is run. The exclusive use of organic fertilizers and the care given to their vines allow them to offer wines made from healthy grapes of great quality. The beneficial proximity of the Rivière Blanche favors the vineyard in many ways. It protects the vineyard from late frosts and provides a significant amount of dew.
Specialized in agrotourism, the vineyard offers free visits and tastings of their Gaspesian and Italian products: wines, spirits, basalts, olive oil and more! But what completely disoriented us upon arrival at the winery is the architecture of its 19th century Italian villa, literally transporting us to Tuscany during our visit.
For a total immersive experience, treat yourself to one of the 5 luxurious suites in the unique setting of Villa Carpinteri. You will have the chance to taste the Mediterranean cuisine prepared in front of you by the Carpinteri family's Chef as well as special wines prepared for the Villa's guests.

You've probably already seen the name "Matane shrimp" on a restaurant menu or in the ingredients of a recipe. For more than 50 years, Matane has been a leader in northern shrimp processing thanks to Fruits de Mer de l'Est du Québec's factory. Now owned by the world leader Royal Greenland, the Matane shrimp's brand is known worldwide for its irresistible taste and pink color.
It is hard to believe that in the early days of shrimp fishing, few people wanted to eat it. Many people considered it a pest. However, slowly but surely, thanks to the ingenuity of the fishermen, shrimp became attractive and very popular with consumers. Nowadays, to the delight of many, shrimp is a seafood product that can be found in fish shops and restaurants throughout the Quebec province, but especially in Matanie. Many people even travel miles and miles just to get a taste of it. The Matane shrimp, or northern shrimp, is the pride of the region, which strives to promote it. The region's fish shopd and restaurants are very good allies in this mission. Restaurants, pubs, microbreweries, cafés, canteens, smokehouses and fish shops: partners who will help you discover and savour the northern shrimp in all its forms, from breakfast to dinner! A culinary experience awaits you in the four corners of the Matane region.

This is an excellent question to ask the members or employees of the marina.

Are you looking for routes to take by car or bicycle to discover the landscapes of La Matanie?
La Matanie's landscape is based on five major geographic areas that make up the foundation of our territory. The St.Lawrence river and the coastline are among the exceptional landscape elements of our region. They constitute the signature landscape, in addition to the numerous viewpoints throughout the territory. The plain and the agricultural terraces form a staircase leading to the piedmont, colored by the mosaic of colors of the fields and by the wind turbines. The piedmont is the link between the terraces and the hinterland, where agriculture and forest are mixed. To the east and south of the territory, the forested plateau is home to hamlets and resort areas. Acting as a great link, the Matane Salmon River and its valley constitute the link that unites the different geographical areas of the territory as well as the rural and urban environments. Discover the variety of Matane's landscapes! Travel our roads with their diversified landscapes and spectacular viewpoints.
