Red deer were imported from New Zealand more than twenty years ago, and their farming in Canada is mainly limited to the eastern part of the country. Red deer are primarily raised for their meat. They are fed high-quality forage and grain, which results in exceptional meat in terms of color, flavor, fat content, and tenderness.

Where to find them: Directly at the farm by appointment. During the summer season, mainly at the La Matanie Public Market, and occasionally at public markets in La Mitis, La Matapédia, and Rimouski.
